A dear friend wanted to talk to me about I believe, teenage angst. She wanted to know all about my experience before the girls came along. Since it's my blog I said I would. When I think back to my teen years... things were pretty simple. I went to bed before my parents. I got up at 8 AM (Which is apparently a dangerous thing to do for most teens). I ate breakfast. Then I got in the car and went to school. It was really that simple, and I LOVE it. My kids... well we're not so simple. I was shocked the other day when both girls came to my room about 8:30 PM asking if I had started up the laundry yet because they were only wearing their shirt and shorts. This was after going to church for the day... and I should mention that it was raining (I know it's hard to picture, but it really was). They wanted to change before bed and I had to say I didn't have time to do it. But they insisted. No. I said. I have to work in the morning. No. I said. I really don't have time. No. They looked at me and squealed. Ha Ha! It was very funny and I realized for the first time that I am an introvert when it comes to laundry. It is so much work. I do enjoy doing it, but mostly because I am helping my girls become self sufficient in the world... and I do feel like self sufficiency is a lofty goal. My oldest daughter is older and has a job. Her job is to do what she needs to do because she has discovered that some of her needs, just like mommy, are temporary. If you are anything like me, I am sure you enjoyed the short "treasure hunt" for a quote from their recent weekend of excitement 648931e174
